Desire lines are earthen paths created through the repetition of footsteps and other traffic. They represent where people wish to go and are at often times the shortest or most easily navigated routes between points. As people orient themselves in their physical surroundings and move from space to space, such lines also come to hold a poetic resonance of yearning, exploration and discovery.
